Week in the Life of Us - 2010 - Thursday

Normally I am still asleep when Chad heads off to work. But this morning I needed to be up early to get my marathon training in. So I was able to snap Chad on his way out the door this morning.
and then I snapped a picture of myself getting ready for that 5 miles!
J having cereal while watching some cartoons. He gets pretty engrossed in his shows.
After my walk, J and I went down to the field for some batting/pitching practice. Luckily, Coach Mike and his boys were there getting the field ready for tonight. That's me in the catcher's gear. The boys find me really hilarious.
When we got home from practice it was lunch time. J and K had PB&J and K had a grapefruit with it.
I was going to have Tuna Salad for lunch but these Whole Wheat Banana Blueberry Pancakes were still in the fridge so I  had those for lunch instead!
After lunch, and helping with school work, I finally got around to my shower. After that I had to do today's batch of laundry. It really is an everyday thing. I skipped laundry on Tuesday and ended up having to do two loads on Wednesday. Tomorrow's load of laundry is already sorted and waiting for me :)
We actually got mail today!
The kids were all outside playing so I snapped some pictures of them goofing around and making faces at me.
My outfit today.
We spent a little time on the couch getting computer work done.
Down to the ballfield after dinner. First stop: concession stand!
Only after the concession stuff was taken care of did Chad stop to watch a game.
While watching the game on field #1 we saw the rocket launch! It was pretty cool. I didn't have my camera out when we first saw it and by the time I had it out to take a picture all that was left was the smoke trail.
While the last game was playing out, the kids were on an empty field having a game of their own.
Tonight is Project Runway and I try not to miss it. We settled in to watch the show and K wanted to see what I had posted so she plopped down between us. Then J decided to settle on my lap since there was no other place for him to relax. We don't fit on this tiny little couch very well, at least, not now that the kids have grown!

I took lots of pictures today. There is a definite ritual to our days. Three more days to go!

Week in the Life of Us - 2010 - Wednesday

This is how beautiful our day was today! After 2 days of rain, the air was fresh and clean, the breeze was cool and gentle, and the skies were painted blue and dotted with fluffy white cotton puff clouds.
I did laundry today, like I do almost every day. This time I took a few minutes to myself and folded the laundry there. Good thing I did, because when I finished sorting the socks there was one sock MIA. I rechecked the dryer but no luck. I rechecked the washer but didn't see it...at first. It wasn't until I looked up along the walls that I found that sock, clinging for dear life and wondering where his mate had gone...
I flat ironed K's hair again today. She wouldn't let me take pictures last time, but I snuck a few this time. While I was putting the finishing touches on her hair, she got to work on her Science.
Part of doing laundry is scrubbing the clay and grass stains from J's baseball pants. They didn't make it into the wash today. But I'm sure I'll have another load before Friday's game!
Lunch was easy peasy today. PB&J all around! But look! There's an odd man out! Who likes their sandwich toasted?
I spent about an hour doing some cleaning. One of the biggest jobs is keeping all the shoes orderly. The shoes at the door are the ones we wear most of the time. There are 4 of us in the house, but 9 pairs of shoes/flip flops at the door!

You know those yummy "yogurt covered" pretzels you get at the store that are so good, yet so bad for you? Yeah, well, I tried to make my own today. It was a good try, but no joy. I'll be trying again another day
After school was finished, K and J went outside to play with the neighborhood. I actually caught a rare smile on the face of my lovely teenaged daughter!
Proof that I have a boy living here: broken plane (that still flies, Mom!), action figures, matchbox cars, and his bike, parked where it doesn't belong.
I spent the afternoon going through almost all 50 library books, sorting out the ones that can go back and placing markers in the books where I need to copy out recipes, craft ideas, and knitting patterns. The picture is crooked because the camera was balanced on a pepsi max box and I guess it tilted just before it took the picture. I'll probably fix it in PSE, or maybe not. Life isn't perfect, ya know?
Once Chad got home and had a bite to eat he headed down to the ball park to do some work in the concession stand. He came back a couple hours later to pick up the kids and take them down to pick up trash and watch the game. I went down about 7 to get some pictures of them. It's funny how bringing out a camera makes everyone skittish. :)
After I left the game I got dinner started. While waiting for the water to boil, I started a new crafting project! I decided to recycle all those nasty plastic bags that keep piling up when someone doesn't take the shopping bags with him to the store. I cut the bags into strips, tied the strips together and wound up my own brand of "yarn". I'll be crocheting this into an open weave produce bag. Very eco-friendly :) just in time for EarthDay!

Okay, so, I took way more pictures Wednesday than I did on either Monday or Tuesday. I tried to include more shots of stuff we do around the house, shots of what our environment looks like. I even took some pictures of the squirrel that I pass everyday on my way to the laundry/mail room. I'm beginning to see that there are a lot of things I really should be documenting. I'm so glad I joined in on this project!

Week in the Life of Us - 2010 - Tuesday

Breakfast time - just cereal today
I like to check my email while eating my cereal. I'm definitely a multi-tasker.
Helping with schoolwork
No mail today. Weird. There's usually at least junk mail!
Preparing to defend himself
Sneak attack
Driving to an appointment all by myself. No kids! I usually have my 2 plus at least 3 others.
Big bag of library books :)  I actually picked out some fiction this time. Normally I go for non-fiction, history, and crafting type books. This time I wandered around a bit (by myself!) and ran across some arts and crafts mysteries. Can't wait to dig into one :)
Tonight's episode was a rerun. Not that I really care. I'll watch reruns of NCIS :)

I didn't take as many pictures today as I did on Monday. I think I just wasn't feeling it. I had a lot on my mind and I just couldn't get into the normal groove of the day. It didn't help that none of us really felt like doing any schoolwork. But we can't take anymore unscheduled days off. The end of the school year is fast approaching. I have big plans for summer break so I need us to complete everything in a timely manner. :)

Week in the Life of Us - 2010 - Monday

School time. J gets pretty relaxed sometimes.
After lunch we had a burping contest. Gross, I know, but funny :)
My digital embellies all printed out and trimmed
All the kiddos heading to the ball field
Warming up and pep talk

Day One of "Week in the Life" : I kept a timed list of everything that happened today. I don't think I'll do it that way again. I think what we did was worth writing down, but I think I'm going to shift the focus a bit. We'll see what today brings.

Week in the Life of Us - 2010

Today begins the first day of journaling and photo taking for Week in the Life 2010. You can find more about the project on Ali Edwards blog. I'm already in the habit of taking pictures everyday thanks to the Project 365 I've been doing. But this week I'll be taking pictures all day long! As well as lots of journaling.

I've already put together my binder, a simple 8 1/2" x 11"  3-ring binder I picked up at Target. I made some embellishments using the pattern of the binder. My embellishments fit in the baseball card page protectors. I still need to find some full 8 1/2" x 11" page protectors. I know I have some somewhere...I also  have some ticket stubs I made in PSE that I'm going to print out and use on the pages. For my journaling each day, I think I'll use a notebook. That way I can carry it along when I leave the house - which is almost every day now that it's baseball season!

This is going to be a lot of fun!

Project 365: Week 15

WEEK #15
Sunday, April 4, 2010  Easter Sunday! Instead of baskets this year, I went with bags, decorated and filled with goodies :)

Monday, April 5, 2010  Laundry Day! I started some spring cleaning laundry. All the sweaters and heavier clothes were washed and packed away. I emptied the drawers of clothes that haven't been worn in the last 6 months and cleaned and packed those. I'm a loooong way from finished!

Tuesday, April 6, 2010  We found a ball stand at the fields yesterday. Today J pulled it out to practice his swing. He's wearing his new shirt that came with his Easter goodies. First day out and he got a hole in it!

Wednesday, April 7, 2010  More spring cleaning! I'm working on clearing off the bookshelf at the end of the bed and trying to figure out a way to pack and store all the pictures and scrapbooks. I don't feel like I'm really getting anywhere yet.

Thursday, April 8, 2010  I've been hungry for some blueberries so I made this Blueberry Torte from my Taste of Home magazine. Such a yummy dessert...so good we had it for dinner!

Friday, April 9, 2010  Look at this mess! By the end of the week the table is so covered with stuff there's no space for anyone to sit down and eat. I get so tired of all the odds and ends piling up. Of course, this time a lot of the stuff is mine! I'm working on putting together the accents and embellishments for my "Week in the Life" project for next week.

Saturday, April 10, 2010 I bought J some chocolate milk. It's his most favorite treat!
