Project 365: Week 6

WEEK #6
Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010  Jeremy and his friends set up a little tent with his sleeping bag so they could stay out of the amazingly cold wind and play their video games.
Monday, Feb. 1, 2010  I made a batch of brownies and tried cutting them with the heart cutters. I sprinkled them with a little bit of powdered sugar. yummy :)
Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010  Chad's checkerboard scarf is all finished!
Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010  Blue Me Away nail polish. Love it, love it, love it!
Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010  Working on scanning pictures from MY childhood. I've started my Journaling Me Project and I'll need some of these photos to go with the journaling.
Friday, Feb. 5, 2010  Birthday cupcakes. I played around with my food colorings and used some pretty ribbon to make my cupcakes look like balloons! I used my pretty liners but they don't show up very well.
Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010  J had baseball camp today, so I spent my birthday working in the concession stand at the little league fields. It was a nice day, but very cold, very strong winds again. Glad we had hot cocoa!

More Valentines Fun

I've been playing with my food.

February is a great month for playing with food. We've had quite a bit of fun. The jello recipe is so yummy, it's difficult to put the fork down! And sugar cookies! mmmmm......

Journaling Me: Favorite Scents

What scent would you like to bottle as a perfume?

Scents that I love:

A NEW BOX OF CRAYONS
I have a nice little collection of crayons now. Even some boxes from many, many years ago! The smell of crayons takes me right back to those lovely fairytale coloring books and my big bucket of crayon pieces. I still have that big book of fairytales. My childhood bucket of crayons is long gone.

FRESH CUT GRASS

Living in Buchanan for 6 years meant no yard. So when we took this house for a few months, having the grass cut was especially wonderful, for me anyway, not the guy cutting it.

BURNING LEAVES

Burning leaves along the roadway is a hazard, but I still love driving through the open country and enjoying one of the more prevalent scents of autumn. I vividly recall burning leaves along the enbankment of our yard when we were growing up. The kids got to rake them from the yard to the bank and mom and dad were in charge of pulling them over the edge and controlling the fires. We would smell the burning leaves for days afterward. And the charred bank would grow back nice and green every spring.

BAKING BREAD/COOKIES/BROWNIES
I love baking. And baking loves me :)  It just doesn't love my waistline ;)

PLAY-DOH
Is there really anything better than a tub of play-doh?! This squishy, smelly stuff really fires up the imagination! When the kids and I celebrated National PlayDoh day in 2008 we had a ton of fun coming up with things for our photo shoot. J made this cute little artist complete with painters palette and K made a dog face and used the ring from the table leg that was visible through the glass as a ring around one eye. So clever!

I don't know that I'd want to bottle any of these scents. I think if I had the scent available all the time it would lose some of it's special powers :) Each time I smell one of these I recall another fun memory.

New cookie cutters!

I don't have any cookie cutters here in Florida. They are all in storage back in Michigan. I didn't think I'd need any here because it's always so hot, baking makes it miserable. But now we're having nice, cool weather (some would say cold) and I have no cookie cutters.
So I broke down and  bought some! (good sale!)
I bought a set of 3 heart-shaped cookie cutters. They're very cute. We made some brownies and I practiced using my cute new cutters. Yummy!

Anytime I've needed cookies before, I 've just used a plastic drinking cup and made circles. Like these I made for J's baseball team last spring

and the ornament cookies I made at Christmas

Straight forward and simple, still yummy. But I'd really like to have some of my special cookie cutters right about now. This cool weather doesn't come around often in sunny Florida!
