Spring Ball

Baseball season is fully underway, and with both kids playing this spring, our schedules are overly packed. We've had a game or practice 6 days out of 7 for the last 3 weeks! Sometimes, the kids have games on the same day, which means Dad takes Little Man and I take The Girl. Plus, The Mr. is a Coach this year so he really needs to be at every game even if Little Man isn't playing that day.

It's difficult for me to get photos of Little Man since I often do the scorebook. So I'm going to have to take a game off here and there so I can get some more pictures of him in action.

This is The Girl's first year playing on a team. Because they offer a girls softball league here, they wouldn't let her play baseball. She was not happy. And the coaches are having a hard time retraining her! She doesn't throw like a girl :)

And she loves to slide! Here I caught her stealing home. Which she does quite often. She's also managed to get pretty banged up while doing it. That's my Girl :)

Baseball vs. Reds

Despite missing practices all week and Thursday night's game, J was a starter for Friday night's game. Rather than the usual 2nd base or Center field, Coach decided to try him on 3rd base. J played a lot of 3rd base last fall so the position wasn't new to him. He was definitely ready for some action...it just never happened.
J had 2 at bats tonight. The first one he was walked and the second he struck out. He prefers striking out to walking anyday...but it's best to get a hit!

I managed a quick shot as he ran by me after scoring. When I have to juggle the scorebook and the camera, somethings gonna give...too bad it was the pictures...I need to train a replacement soon - or hire a photographer. It was a pretty good game. The Diamondbacks won 10-0. So another shut out on the books. Go Diamondbacks!

Project 365: Week 7

WEEK #7

Sunday, February 7, 2010  We celebrated my birthday by going to the movies. We saw "The Spy Next Door" - it was funny. Just what you'd expect of a Jackie Chan movie. Before, and after, the movie Chad and the kids played a round of Dance Dance Revolution.

Monday, February 8, 2010  We finally found some of those yummy candy hearts us northerners prefer!

Tuesday, February 9, 2010  K and I went to Target to look at jeans for her. While she was looking around I found these shoes for me. When we got home K tried them on and discovered that they fit. I never got to wear my lovely purple shoes! She stole them!

Wednesday, February 10, 2010  We cut into a new jello dessert. Mmmm..jello...

Thursday, February 11, 2010  K got her hair cut! and colored! She rocks.

Friday, February 12, 2010  It was a rainy, icky day so the kids and I ran to Target for a couple things. When we got home we played our new game - Scrabble Slam! - and then we pulled out some of our favorite board games, among them is always Clue.

Saturday, February 13, 2010  Apparently Chad was in a mood. And here we have the photographic proof of his unquestionable insanity.

Rainy Day Fun

Yesterday was a pretty yucky day weather-wise. It was dark and overcast when we woke up and it only got worse from there. Normally, Chad and I have been going out for coffee every Friday morning. This week his boss asked him to fill in at another office, so no date for us. Instead, the kids and I went to Panera Bread for breakfast and hung out for the day. I took my camera with me, but when I pulled it out to take some pictures of us enjoying our yummy baked goods, I realized that I'd forgotten to put the battery back in! doh! So no pictures from our mornings jaunts.

Immediately upon getting home, I put the battery back in my camera so it'd be ready.

Barely a handful of minutes after we got home it started to rain. And I mean rain. Luckily, I was smart enough to grab a new game while we were at Target! If you haven't tried the new Scrabble Slam! game you just have to go and get it. Best $5.24 I ever spent!

Before we knew it, we'd played 4 games! And it's an extra bonus that it works for homeschooling! Score one for momma :)  And after we'd exhausted our store of 4-letter words, we moved on to another word game: Last Word. This game forces you to think fast. Great game for finding words in a category.

And then we busted out Clue, though our version is a bit older than the one on the link. There are a lot of new Clue games out there that I just might have to invest in :)

We played our first round of Clue in about 5 minutes. So while we set up for the next game we also took a break for lunch. J had PB&J, I had a pulled pork BBQ sandwich, and K asked for PB&Mallow

After a quick bite we played 2 more games of Clue and then cleaned up to bake our Valentines cookies. K was all about the sprinkles. J was all about rolling out the dough. I can't wait to have a full-sized kitchen so we can really do some fun cooking together!

My only job was moving the cut cookies onto the pans and working the oven. Once they were all cooled I pulled out the cookie icings and had some fun. Unfortunately, my sugar cookies always bake up with big bubbles and round tops. I wish I knew the trick to flat cookies. I had to trim them flat to keep the icing from rolling off the edges and making a huge mess.

So even though the weather was icky, we had a great day.
